Stage 2

A shorter day of about 3.5 to 4.5 hours crosses the Black Isle toward Alness on a mix of field paths and quiet roads. Easier underfoot than the stages ahead but still lacking the comfort of a fully waymarked national trail.

Alness is a town on the Cromarty Firth with shops and pubs. Useful for resupply before longer days along the eastern coast.
